Prada Wallet Edge-Coat Repair

A Precision Repair by a Luxury Leather Atelier in Seocho-dong

When it comes to Prada wallets,
the area that tends to show wear first is almost always the edge line.

The blue wallet received for this repair was no exception.
While the leather surface and overall structure remained in relatively stable condition,
the edge coating around the corners and fold lines had gradually worn down, cracked, and faded over time.

Condition Before Repair

As shown in the photos, the edge coat had thinned and deteriorated,
leaving the corners exposed and uneven.
Although the damage was not structural, it noticeably affected the wallet’s overall appearance and tactile comfort.

Repair Process

For this project, we began by fully removing the existing edge coat rather than covering it over.

After carefully leveling and preparing the edge surface,
we custom-mixed a blue edge coat to match the original color of the wallet.
The new edge was then rebuilt through multiple thin layers, applied gradually to ensure durability and precision.

Instead of increasing thickness unnaturally,
we focused on restoring the wallet’s original proportions and clean lines.

The final finish was carefully adjusted to avoid excessive gloss,
allowing the repaired edges to blend naturally with the original leather texture.

After Repair

Once completed, the corner lines were noticeably more refined and stable,
giving the wallet a much cleaner and more composed overall impression.

The rough, catching sensation along the edges was significantly reduced,
making the wallet more comfortable to handle during everyday use.

Edge-coat repair is not about adding decoration—
it is a form of essential maintenance that allows a wallet to be used properly and comfortably over time.

Addressing edge wear before the damage progresses further
