Card holders are accessories that naturally experience frequent handling and constant card movement.
Over time, the subtle traces of use tend to appear first along the edges.
The Saint Laurent card holder entrusted to us was structurally sound, with the leather texture and shape remaining stable.
However, the edge lines—particularly along the corners—had gradually lost some of their original crispness.
Condition Assessment (Before Repair)
Around the card slots and corner areas, the outer edge lines were no longer perfectly uniform.
This was not a dramatic or visually striking form of damage, but rather the kind that becomes noticeable when the wallet is held in hand or placed on a desk—where the silhouette no longer feels as clean or defined as before.
Repair Approach
For this project, our focus was on restoring stability and balance to the edge lines while preserving the wallet’s original character.
Because edge finishing plays a decisive role in the overall impression of a card holder, special care was taken to ensure that the thickness and angles did not become excessive.
The entire perimeter was refined calmly and evenly, with close attention to proportion and balance.
Result (After Repair)
Once completed, the edge lines appeared noticeably more even and composed, giving the wallet a calmer and more stable outline.
Rather than looking “new,” the card holder returned to a state closer to its original, well-finished condition at the beginning of use.
The tactile feel in hand and the first impression when taken out of a bag both regained a clean, restrained elegance.
